ABOUT CALVARY

First Time Visitors

Welcome to Calvary Church. We’re so glad you visited our website today, and we hope you’ll visit Calvary soon in person. Here are answers to some of the most common questions people ask before coming to Calvary.

What can I expect at Calvary?
We hope you'll feel warmly welcomed! The Calvary family is multi-generational, with a mixture of many ethnic backgrounds. Dress tends to be business casual, but there's always a range from ties to jeans. Children in 3rd grade and up join in the worship services; nursery and age appropriate classes are provided for younger children.

When are worship services?
Our Sunday worship service is at 9:45 AM in the main Sanctuary, and lasts about 70 minutes. The Spanish service is at 11:00 AM, in the Chapel. We have an evening worship service at 6:00 PM, September – May.

Calvary worship services have a strong focus on the preaching of the Bible. Our music is a blend of old and new, traditional and contemporary. Our goal is to glorify God and exalt our Lord Jesus Christ.

Be sure to allow a few extra minutes to park and check in young children. Greeters and ushers are in our Galleria (main entrance hallway) to answer questions, give you a newsletter, and help you find a seat.

How will I meet people in such a big church?
There are many opportunities to meet people and become involved in small groups and activites at Calvary. To meet other newcomers and Calvary pastors, drop by the Guest Café for coffee and pastries. The Café is located in the main Galleria, near the Word Room bookstore. This is a great place to ask questions, get more information about Calvary ministries, and meet others who are new to Calvary.

Where is Calvary Church?
At the corner of Highway 51 and Rea Road, in Charlotte, NC. If you need to, get directions.

Where should I park?
When you arrive, you’ll want to park in one of three locations near main entrances. These are: the Rea Road "Galleria" main entrance leading to the Sanctuary, the Highway 51 entrance into the Chapel, or the back entrance which faces Magnolia Gardens cemetery and leads to the preschool class rooms.

What is there for my kids?
There are Sunday Bible classes for children of every age, from nursery through gradeschool, plus a program for youth. Plan a few extra minutes to sign-in your children at the "Family Welcome & Information" center in the Galleria near the elevators. Greeters there will help you register your children and locate their classrooms. Check out the Children's Ministry section of our website for specific classes and activities. We have lots for kids at Calvary!

What if I have a question once I'm at Calvary?
If you have questions or need help at any time, look for Calvary ushers and greeters wearing name-tags – they can help you. At our Welcome Desk, you may pick up a copy of @Calvary, our quarterly ministry quide.

If you want to ask a question, submit a prayer request, or learn more about Calvary, here are the best ways to indicate your interest:

  • Attend the Guest Café
  • Send a note via our website
  • Fill out a Guest Card (located in the pew racks) and indicate your need; you will be contacted by a member of the pastoral staff that week.
